They Can't Be Serious?

Can there be a "society" so completely detached from its customer base as the Society of Authors? The society that represents 8,500 professional writers in the UK, is comparing their situation to illegal downloading of music.

Admittedly, I'm no expert at all with online book distribution, nor have I ever downloaded a book, or went and bought the Amazon Kindle. I've downloaded many e-books, most of them instructional, but there is no way in hell that I would want to read my book on something like the Kindle.

This thing looks like snuck out of a Texas Instruments warehouse that was abandoned in 1988.

Maybe there is something lurking out there that will take the book world by storm, but I just don't see my wife, dad or anyone else I know abandoning their physical books in the near future to carry around some electronic reader. Much less seeking out P2P networks to find pirated books.

found via: Ben Hoyle

book piracy kindle illegal downloads
